Superior education has always been a hallmark of The Real Estate School of the Lancaster County Association of Realtors (LCAR). Classes are held in the Training Center at 1930 Harrington Drive, Lancaster.
The success of the School has been due in large part to the teaching talents of a first-class faculty, many of whom continue to be active real estate practitioners. As previous students can attest, nothing beats learning from someone who has first-hand experience in the marketplace.
The Real Estate School of LCAR offers two pre-sales license courses -- Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice – which prepare students to pass the Pennsylvania State Licensing Examination. Our in-person classroom classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
To obtain a Pennsylvania State Real Estate Salesperson License, an applicant must be 18 years of age and successfully complete 30 hours of education in Real Estate Fundamentals and 45 hours in Real Estate Practice. When the courses have been completed, the applicant must earn a passing grade on the State Licensing Exam which is administered by PSI.
This 30-hour, interactive course introduces students to the language, principles, legal concepts and laws that govern real estate ownership and its transfer in Pennsylvania.
This 45-hour, interactive course introduces students to the various facets of the real estate business and the techniques, procedures and ethics involved in a real estate transaction. Both state and national content reflect the most current market needs and trends.
Fundamentals is $210 and Practice is $225. Tuition will not be refunded after the first class. The textbook used for both of these courses is Modern Real Estate Practice in Pennsylvania and may be purchased at the first class session at a cost of $40 plus tax.
The Real Estate School has developed a program that allows students to customize their continuing education either in the classroom or through online education. Students have the opportunity to choose from several topics of interest to satisfy their elective 14 hours of course study that is required every two years.
To be eligible to sit for the Pennsylvania Broker’s Exam, you must complete a total of 16 credits of 240 hours. Most courses are a minimum of 2 credits (30 hours). A maximum of 4 credits (60 hours) is allowed per course and/or area of real estate study.
6 credits (90 hours) each in at least three of the following 2-credit courses:
The remaining 6 credits (90 hours) may be taken in any elective topic approved for broker credit by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission.
For students interested in an online learning environment, we offer Initial Licensing classes, as well as a variety of Continuing Education sessions – both for new licensees and the seasoned professional. Purchase a course and work at your own pace by logging on at your convenience for the duration that works best for you.
